Android Navigation: NL

Yesterday I tried Google's navigation. I live in the Netherlands, so it was the first time for me. Actually, I just read it was even launched yesterday! I had a trip planned to a friends house. I really wanted to compare Google's navigation to TomTom's, which has longtime been superior.
I therefore setup the TT, and the navigation on my G1 (yes, the original G1). Conclusions are simple. Google's product is fine. TT's maps are a little clearer when driving (I don't have the lates generation of TT), otherwise it was fine.

Voice guided navigation is done through a plugin it points you to and installs for you. The only thing I can say about this that I was unable to set voice nav to dutch - so it was english, and the pronounciation of the streetnames was hilarious. I was quite impressed, and happy.

Biggest disadvantage is, of course, data traffic, as Google maps doesn't have maps installed on your device. So if you have a limited data plan, or you are planning a trip abroad, steer clear from it. That's where TT comes in.

I wonder about a few things. There weren's many settings I could make. I added the petrol stations layer, and it worked perfectly. Other than that, it's a stock product that just works. Will there be settings in the future? Will I be able to change the language for voice guidance? Will I be able to receive a phone call during navigation that does not take over the screen? I received one call and it just took over the screen. When it stopped ringing, nav screen came back, so that's a start.

Biggest fun was arriving at my destiny, where the app presented me with a picture of the building I was going to.
