The Project Approach to Life

Although a lot of people tend to get a nasty taste by hearing the words project management, it is one of the methods you can apply to anything in life.
So lose the bad taste and learn how you can apply project management as an approach to something you would like to achieve.

For instance, I know a lot of people that enjoy working on their home or yard. They often don't see it as pm work, but look at it this way. Look at the desired end result. Now see the steps required to achieve the end result. Write them down in the correct order. Add a timeline and a budget, and you're a project manager.

See what I mean? Now think about that job you're trying to get. How do you get there? The end result is the job becoming yours. The steps towards it are probably one or more interviews that you prepare for, maybe you need to do some reading to be sure you know what you're talking about in the interview, and in some cases you'd take a course before you start applying to that dream job.

Put all the steps down in a document, add the timeline (budget only if applicable) and see your project planning.

In short, this can actually benefit you in many ways, as you have thought about and described the steps that will lead to your success. Use it to your advantage.
